NBC News - Special Report (Bush farewall address) (January 15 2009)

Clips from the Presidential Address (using the NBC Breaking News or Special Report opener). This happened on the same day that the US Airways plane crash landed in to the Hudson River in New York city, so they had a live cross at the end of Bush's speech... it didn't all go smoothly however - the reporter couldn't hear Brian so he didn't know he was on air

Interesting that when the American networks break away for these news 'special reports' they don't go back to their programming from the point where they broke away. Americans are probably used to it, but if I were watching Seven and they had breaking news at 7pm and then at 7.10pm said "we now return you to Home and Away already in progress" that'd really shit me!!

A new promo I caught at the end of the NBC Nightly News tonight. Not sure how long this version has been airing for, but it's the first time I saw it anyway :)

I liked the old one better... "More Americans watch NBC News than any other news organisation in the world" :)

ABC US used to do that in the late 90's too if I recall. I think they just want to promote they are steady in the 1st position again after fighting with ABC for a little while.

Here are some random clips from NBC Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda (who present the 4th hour of the show) on Australia. There were some amusing parts in there... including Kathie Lee saying that Melbourne is the capital of Australia

Apologies about the audio quality and the "popping" sound that can be heard at times. That was a WESH TX issue and nothing to do with me :)

Every time I go overseas I always tell people I ride a kangaroo to work, and that everyone else does.

Brian Williams presenting from the newsroom tonight for some reason and they haven't executed it well at all.

Another camera has come in to view (in front) on more than one occasion so far :nonono: The reason being Williams is walking around between reporters and sitting on their desks

Supposedly this was part of a launch of their new joint polling system with the Wall Street Journal  I have no idea why they would do this unless something is wrong with the normal set

Edit: The normal set is fine - he's moved back in there now. I have no idea why they needed to be in the newsroom for the first block :nonono:

Huh? NBC News is HD... all studio and newsroom is HD. Not sure about MSNBC (its HD internally but I'm not sure whether it is broadcast in HD) though.

If MSNBC was in HD, we here in the States would know. And I gotta agree with you, Kevin - Monday's NN wasn't exactly on par with the camera shots - AWKWARD! - although it was presented with limited commercials.

Awkward is definitely how I would describe it... they had cameras in the way on multiple occasions. Williams looked very uncomfortable too.

Perhaps it's just me but it made no sense to be in the newsroom for the first half of the bulletin only then to move back to the studio for the remainder of it. They could have had the "chat" about Iran at the usual desk (as they always do).

Maybe they were experimenting? Regardless it was definitely a failed exercise and looked very amateurish for a major news organisation like NBC.

Tom Brokaw is a brave man standing on the roof of a tall building in NYC just hours after what had taken place. There is no way I would have done that.

I'll never forget that day back in 2001... Posted Image
