Okay, I saw the relaunch this morning, and all I can say is: what a joke. Yeah, Karl's great, and Tracy works well with him. But the X Factor still isn't there. And what's with the pet dog???

I can't believe they spent that much money creating such a great set, but no logos changed. For the first time in probably a decade, they have new weather graphics. These consist of a prelude TODAY Weather logo. That takes ages to load and is very gimmicky.

Yes, the set is great, but the window has a real glare on it, and I'm still wondering what the bedroom's for...

Breakfast television is shaping up as a key political battleground ahead of the federal election due later this year. The Nine Network's Today show is set to unveil its answer to Sunrise's resident political odd couple, Joe Hockey and Kevin Rudd, in a segment that will go head-to-head with its rival on Seven.

Health Minister Tony Abbott and Deputy Opposition Leader Julia Gillard will appear weekly on Today with Karl Stefanovic and Sarah O'Hare at about 7.10am each Friday, about the same time Sunrise tackles the political issues of the day with Rudd and Hockey. - AAP

Today looked prerecorded this morning or at least some of it.

Why do I say that? No HD until about 7:40 and before that looked like it was coming off a old shitty analogue tape and you know that dirt and dust you see on really old movies? I saw that too.

I've underlined the dust specks that appear every few seconds.

although i dont see nat leaving sunrise anytime soon i think they (sunrise) kind of take her for granted all she does is reads the news, she should have her own segment as does mark. nat would be great as a host of today but i dotn think she will get along with karl and the current boring format wont suit her, give her someone who isnt such a turd to co-host even michael usher would be good and get tracy spicer on news, stephanie branz on sport, and the obivions get rid of wilkins. a graphic change and perhaps have a concert on burke street mall (outside DJ's) so it can be David Jones Concert Series, today performs well in Melbourne so why dont go down to burke street mall every now and again?

Why hold a concert in a location that would prevent the Today Show presenters from connecting with it? If they're in Sydney, and the concert is in Melbourne then what's the point? How would they interview the performers after the concert, through 2way boxes? It just really wouldn't work in my opinion.

Ahh, well that's a little bit better format wise. Although personally I can't see Nine throwing that much resource into the Today Show just so that they can have a concert in a Melbourne CBD street.

Finally. Closure for everyone.

A good result for Nine if the financial obligations don't become complicated. And Overton doesn't leave.

I was wondering about that myself actually.

I hope he does leave, it would serve Nine right for the way the whole Jessica Rowe situation was handled.

Well its not Nines fault really. Rowe was simply crap. She deserved to be sacked after the bad publicity she was bringing to the show, which is virtually irreparable now.

Exactly, Nine aren't totally blameless.

I agree that Rowe was "crap" as co-host of Today, but it doesn't mean that Nine had to publicly humiliate her by airing her dirty washing out in public, so to speak, in the way that they did.

SHE may be here Today, but could Kellie Connolly be gone tomorrow - to rival the Seven Network?

In the latest round of musical chairs in Australian television, Connolly was at the centre of speculation that she will replace the woman who, it's rumoured, will replace her on Nine's embattled breakfast show, Lisa Wilkinson.

Formerly the Today show's newsreader, Connolly was said to be in talks with Seven regarding the Weekend Sunrise co-host role that Wilkinson will almost certainly vacate by the week's end.

Last month, the 10-year toiler at Nine was being spruiked as a possible permanent replacement for the Today show co-host gig she has handled without controversy since Sarah Murdoch's summer stint in the chair ended in March.

That behind-the-scenes scuttlebutt now appears to have been more management manoeuvring to provide cover for their talks with Wilkinson, as they prepared to sack Jessica Rowe while she was on maternity leave.

But both Seven's director of news and current affairs Peter Meakin and a Nine spokeswoman yesterday denied that Connolly or her management had been in talks about an on-air role with Sunrise.

"At this stage it's Lisa's job and, as I understand it, she hasn't officially signed with anyone yet," Meakin told Confidential.

But the former Nine newsman seemed resigned to losing Wilkinson, adding, "If she wants to do a five-day a week gig, Channel Nine has the position for her.

"The decision is hers, but we won't be frog-marching her out of the place. That's more Nine's style."

This is the worst route Nine could possibly go with Today. Kellie was the best presenter they've had in a long time and Lisa will bring nothing to the show, I suspect she'll be worse than Jess god forbid having to see Lisa in 1080i :puke: :puke:

Seven must be thrilled that Nine have scraped the bottom of the barrel with their leftovers! Would of been better off going for Nat or Monique.

Richard Wilkins really is a stupid clown.

The chef offered Kellie some water to which Richard replies "You get on with the cooking". That came across as rather rude IMO.

The sooner he gets boned, the better.

Kellie getting ditched for Lisa really shows how badly Nine have no idea with this show.
