And, yes, I did vote against the Alcopops tax, for Armidale's sake :P

Actually it could work, but only if it is focused solely on in-depth national and international coverage with no fluff or puff or any other nonsense. In other words, it has to be pretty similar to what the 4:30pm bulletin was when Melbourne produced it.
Sadly, if Boland is in charge, I expect the bulletin will be packed with giggles and fluff just like Sunrise itself.

Let's hope that's the case. Having one pathetic bulletin at 6pm is bad enough. Heaven help us if 5:30am turns out to be the same.

He has a creative mind - But honestly - Serious news bulletin? Why don't you cut half our of Sunrise apart and do one, instead of having 3 1/2 hours worth of dribble.
I miss the good old day of Sunrise when it was just Mel and someone and the news that mattered.

The Night Cap was the best thing Boland ever did.

Agreed. The one useful thing he does, and Seven drop it
I saw a commercial for Seven Early News on the weekend... Boland doing the VO so it looks like it is his bulletin. Just what we need

Wasn't there a suggestion last year that Boland might defect to 9 and be put in charge of the 6pm news?
I suspect this early bulletin is as much a test run to see how Boland handles a serious news program, as it is an attempt to stop Sunrise's ratings slide.

It was rumoured that TCN approached Boland to be head of news and current affairs. Nine & Boland have both denied the rumours.

I lost count of the number of times Simon Reeve made mention of Sunrise... and then they even had a "cross" to Koch and Nat on the Sunrise desk where they also say what is coming up on Sunrise
This is typical Boland. I can't believe Seven allowed him to use the Seven News brand on something he produces

I know. It was almost Nine-esque, the cross-promoting going on during that bulletin.
The opener was a bit rushed, and the crosses to and from sport were a bit awkward. And what was with the key? The pokies looked awful. I'm guessing that the lack of flyovers, wide shots and so on were because of the Sunrise set and the lack of room.
That being said, it wasn't all bad and an early bulletin is useful for the early-risers if done well.

It was bearable, although someone should tell Simon and Kochie that this bulletin was hardly "history in the making"
