So should they remove every live bug on Sunrise and Today?

No because the live bugs clearly state 'LIVE AEDT'. The VO does not say 'Live across eastern Australia', it says 'Live across Australia', which is misleading because it isn't live across the entire country.

'Recorded live' and 'live to air' are 2 very different things. 'Live across Australia' suggests that it is broadcast live to air nationally which is not correct.

They are but it's a 4 second voice over and people that live in WA are going to know it's not live.
It's a non issue.

I never said it was a big issue, just that it was a bit misleading which it is. I'm sure most people in QLD, SA and WA really wouldn't give a rats, but that still doesn't change that it's misleading.

So apart from the 'LIVE' debate, what did we think of the show?
I thought it was really well put together. The live aspect really works well, but unfortunately I missed out on the All In Call segment which many say actually made the show and give it that something different.

I liked it a lot except for the Coultard report. I can't stand his style and his report was so over dramatic and his in studio piece was pretty shoddy.

I thought the show was really well put together. A much more harder format than I was initially expecting (given I was expecting to see something along the lines of a Sunrise / Today Tonight format). Chris Bath and Mike Munro were the right choice for hosts... they appear to work well together and are both well known news identities.

The set looks great and the graphics are nice (except the SN bug would look better if it were a little smaller). I also like the idea of the break-away show on 7HD which worked quite well.

I don`t think we can really tell how Mike & Chris work together, until they are in the studio together next week.

Maybe not completely, but they still interacted well together hosting the show from different locations.

Absolute crap. I have pulled Seven up on this before and I'm more than happy to do it again if they use that opener next week (someone let me know).

I was the one who had Seven change their promos in WA and SA and the opener for It Takes Two when they said it was "Live across Australia". They will not get away with doing it again.

The supers on programs are a bit different because they are live when it goes to air and it is a lot harder to change those for the delayed timezones - plus they almost always say AEST/AEDT anyway. The opener and any commercials however are a different story.

It's a a 4 second voice over it's not a bid deal. For someone to care about something as insignificant about a voice over saying "live" their life must be pretty quiet.
People in other time zones know it's not live but it is still live to tape so the word live is justified.

And that whole ITT thing was pretty pathetic. GAL

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's a non issue. Those average people who watch tv not because of the set or supers or theme music don't care!

You are telling me to get a life? That's rich. I'm sure you have complained about things which people would consider "pathetic" as well.

Anyway, it was not pathetic, it was false advertising which is illegal. The ACMA has pulled TV stations up for misuse of "live" before. They should be taking them to task for it more often because they're all just as bad as each other.

You are entitled to your opinion, as am I.

Perhaps, but that doesn't mean the networks should be able to get away with false advertising now does it?

Technically if they're not actually live then they probably shouldn't be saying "live" because, by definition, it's misleading.

On the other hand, I think Perth people would know they're half a day behind civilisation and therefore no interstate broadcast would ever be live into Perth.

Exactly.

I have always understood why live-to-air supers and graphics are hard if not impossible to change on a delayed broadcast (because of automation) and that can't be avoided without making the actual live broadcast look half-arsed, but VOs and commercials can be.

As I said when the ITT thing came up, it's not the use of the word "live" itself that annoys me - that is completely understandable because it was live to air somewhere. The issue I have is when they say "Live across Australia"... that there is completely false and that is what I have a problem with. There is no need for it. They can use "live" all they want, but don't say something is "Live across Australia" when that's not true.

Interesting that Sunday Night doesn't get broadcast in Perth since the commencement of the AFL season considering it's supposed to be Seven's flagship current affairs program. I can't imagine that Boland or Llewellyn would be too happy about that considering it would impact on the program's national ratings. :ermm:

It is being shown, but at various times

Week 1 of AFL it was on at 7.30
Week 2 of AFL it was on at 8.30
Week 3 of AFL it was Not Shown ANYWHERE in Australia

So, It has been shown here in Perth.

Thanks for that. I just noticed it hasn't been in the 6.30pm timeslot since the commencement of the AFL season. I didn't realise it had been alternating timeslots. Still, that can't be good for ratings having it shown at different times each week or not at all. I thought Seven were taking this program seriously? :dontknow:

Good to see TVW's Howard Gretton as a guest reporter of the lead story on Seven's Sunday Night tonight.

Haven't been here in awhile, but I enjoy the show, watch it each week. Chris Bath and Munroe seem to work well together, what I really like is the discussion they have with folk in the audience. Last weeks was about childhood immunisation, which was very interesting to watch.
