The coloured bottom looks crap should have stayed balck, The desk ABC V has is gross! and why is there a chunky mouse on a even chunkier laptop? you dont need a mouse use the trackpad having the mouse there look shit house as does the 10 year old computer, i know its the abc and money is tight but im sure they can afford a macbook pro stick a ABC logo over the apple symbol would look 100x better. In fact 30 min bulletins dont even need a laptop, fair enough programs like Today & Sunday but they have an ear piece to communicate with the control room not a stone age msn messenger.

The presenter needs to be able to see the bulletin rundown, modify scripts, read wires, etc.

It's an ABC thing, they have a laptop in the Sydney/national set too. The mousepad moves around a bit as well, depending on who's presenting (now this is splitting hairs) - Ian likes it under his papers (with the mouse on top of the laptop), while Kathy Bowlen has it next to the papers with the mouse on top.

The older desk they had (the surface on it is new, since the start of the year I think) was much nicer.

Yes, because a piece of paper and a pen also updates the autocue! :D

For the record, laptops are fugly. A nice glass desk, BBC World (I think)/One News (NZ)-style with a screen underneath is the way to go for sure. Or maybe perhaps the way SBS do it.

They usually show that, unless you mean that it went on for longer than normal.

As I said normally it is other footage rather than a studio shot, the light faded out but then it was just left at a shot of him sitting in the dark for a few seconds before switching at the last minute to the footage that should have been playing for about 15 seconds.

 at the Closed Captions on the Midday Report when Lisa Miller was chatting with Jim Middleton: he made reference to the former Opposition Leader Simon Crean's meeting with President Bush, but the CC picked it up as Sigh on Cream   :P

Wow, it's like I've died and went to heaven. But then they realized it wasn't my time yet. So they sent me to a brewery.

The Midday Report today/their APEC coverage (they cut into normal programs at about 11 when the Bush/Howard press conference started). Lisa Millar presented both, Whitney Fitzsimmons did finance as usual.

Thanks for the caps.

I like the Election '07 tabs they are using.

Who's this lady presenting ABC News NT tonight? I've never seen her before.

Do we even have any members from the Northern Territory that can answer that?
