I read the other day that farmers in NSW want DS cut short over there. Should the south-eastern states vote on the issue as well? While it has more support over there than it does in WA, I get the impression that there is a large percentage who don't like/want it.

I fully support NSW and Victoria having DS because of their climate and sunrise/sunset times but I do wonder what the outcome would be if a referendum were held over there about it :)

I don't want to have the sun blaring through my window at "4.50am" in Summer i had the "privilege" of experiencing that when i was on the Gold Coast for a few days in December last year, so i don't want all that to occur in Sydney

I seriously LOVE the Gold Coast... It's an awesome and really beautiful place, but the one thing that spoils it is not having Daylight Saving. The sun is up way too early and it gets dark way too early as well which really sucks when you're trying to chill out on the beach and it's getting dark at 5.30pm.

Winter maybe but in Summer???
I don't think so. Sunset is at about 6:48 PM for its latest.
Which admittedly is rather early and even in Perth it is after 7:30 non daylight saving time.

Nah it was in April... about a week BEFORE Daylight Saving ended on the rest of the east coast.

This blog post from Kuttsywood amused me.

Can't possibly have that :nonono:

You wish :P

Here you don't even have to go inside the "gas" station. You pay with the card at the pump before you fill up and then you drive off :)

Sounds like a response to "drive offs" to me :)

In Sydney we've had Daylight Saving for 4 days..... and a total of about 4 hours sunlight mixed with rain, hail and smog

Tell me about it. Today started cloudy and then the sun came out, right before we got our asses blown away by that ruddy storm. That left 30 mins of sun to melt the 8cm of hail that was dumped on us. So much for enjoying the extra sunlight.

In fact, we're barely going to see the sun until Saturday - a full week into DS

I came across this through one of Microsoft's timezone patches...

+ Argentina Says No To Daylight Saving Time

That's a pretty big result for a country the size of Argentina.

DST used - DST no longer used - DST never used

Quite a large portion of the world no longer (or never has) observe daylight saving.

Have a look at the places that have never had it. Most of them are Third World like Perth :)

Yes it would be. It's the first Sunday in April that clocks reverse by an hour.

Well it's around again this weekend for New South Wales, ACT, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia. Clocks move forward by an hour at 2am Sunday morning.

Yes, while yet again Western Australia remains stuck in the dark ages thanks to the majority of people that live within it being total backward morons! I still blame Kevin for DS not being introduced into WA permanently. :D

I'm happy to accept that :)

Thankfully DS is coming to an end in the US in a few weeks. That means winter is on the way and that is always good news :D

I the past hour or so reading through all 50 pages of this topic. This was definitely one of our most active non-TV topics (aside from the admin one).

We had some great fun with this debate :) Good times indeed.
