Nothing I say should be taken seriously. Unless it ends with an exclamation mark.

I was rather impressed to see that Ten must have re-done the Morning News live for Perth today because of the cricket. They opened and closed with Australia's 5th Ashes test win at the SCG which would have still been in play when the Morning News went to air on the east coast.

Ten Perth crime reporter Rex Haw is retiring on January 19th after 38 years of reporting. He came to WA from Victoria (he is originally from NSW) in 1987 and worked for Channel 9 and later Channel 10.

Is that 38 years in TV?

Wow, it's like I've died and went to heaven. But then they realized it wasn't my time yet. So they sent me to a brewery.

Charmaine did well when the autocue wasn't working just then. Right at the start of the bulletin, nicely done Ten :P

Really? First time I've ever seen anything like that happen on Ten News and she didn't really pause or anything, just looked down briefly a few times like they do.

Just last week when a story didn't play she sat their like a stunned mullet for ages then looked over towards Bill as if he could help her out of the situation.

That was actually about 3 weeks ago... I saw it too! :D

I'm sure Charmaine wasn't looking at Bill to “help her out of the situation" but more than likely because the next read would have been Bill's and when the package didn't roll she was left up on camera and wasn't sure whether she should read on to the next item.

In those sorts of situations it's easy to criticise the presenter but in the event that something goes wrong the director needs to make a quick call as to how to deal with the situation. Usually during those couple of seconds the presenter is left on camera looking blankly down the barrel while they await direction about what they should do.

Funny to note that the 'live cross' was from the veranda of the Channel Ten Adelaide building. :P.
