Brian Wilshire has been on that timeslot on 2GB for something like 30 years or more

It's an amazing effort - even though I can't stand talkback from 4pm onwards (so boring and slow), he must be doing something right to have a quarter of the audience for 3 hours each weeknight.

2UE have issues... you would think that based on their primary target audience of over 55's they would be putting in some special effort on the financial crisis in terms of updates - particularly in the areas of superannuation, tax, pensions etc.
But instead they do some silly Wii promotion.
They're having an identity crisis over at 2UE at the moment like Triple M. They've really discovered how much Lawsie brought to the station and how many people have left because Lawsie left - many of whom have now gone to Hadley. But they haven't helped themselves either by shifting regulars around and playing with the whole schedule/lineup and bringing in randoms like Sandy Aloisi.
And why they persist with Peter Fitzsimons is beyond me - I've never liked the man and I suspect a lot of Sydney radio listeners are the same.

As for MMM their playlists have been utterly boring in terms of being over-repetitive. They played the same damned thing every day. I guess most stations do that, but it seems to be most noticeable and annoying on MMM.
I suppose if you limit yourself to one particular era for one particular genre, you're going to have to repeat songs to fill time.
That being said, I hear plenty of repetition from WS - in recent times it's been Shout by Tears for Fears on an almost daily basis (top song though) - and it is very noticeable. However it looks like most people don't care.

Having said that MMM have now changed their music again - this time it's "Awesome 80's" and it's 80's for most of the day so this will probably steal some listeners off Vega and maybe 2WSfm - but in doing so, deprives Sydney of any commercial stations playing new rock.
But is there a market anymore for rock (both old and new)?
They could take listeners off the other two, but do Sydney listeners really want or need yet another classic 70s/80s music station? It seems listeners are pretty happy with WS, Mix, Vega and 2GO already. I just think if Triple M try and copy their competition they'll only sink further into trouble (just like 9 from 2005 onwards). They need to be different and original, not a carbon copy of others.
