Very true.

But as long as I keep getting good reactions like this, I'll keep it up! :ranting:

Wouldn't be as much fun that way. It always gets a great reaction - just look at the amount of people that have listed "Selma" in their Mediaspy award nominations in the "Gone and Forgotten category". A bit ironic don't you think!

I'm surprised you're not blaming the lead-in for all those nominations.

By the way... good evening, Powerzone. :)

Hey Minh-Quan, I thought you would be in a good mood now that your hero Obama has been elected. :clapping:

I just thought it was ironic about the nom's - how can I be "forgotten" and still remembered at the same time?

On the subject of lead in's - they are without a doubt a crucial factor, especially given the modern practice of networks running shows directly into one another.

I didn't take off, I was banned.

In fact, I'll even bold and capitalise it for you. I WAS BANNED.

And unlike you, I accepted it (though admittedly with a lot of kicking and screaming) and didn't create thousands of extra accounts so I could continue to spam the place.

View PostSelma, on Nov 6 2008, 5:56pm, said:

Exactly my point - no one listens to 2SM in Sydney, meaning Grant's show has no impact on Alan Jones' show - contrary to what aamslfc thinks.

I suggested, slightly tongue-in-cheek, that Jones might be happy not to have Grant counted in the ratings if your pensioner theory was correct. Hence my use of the word might.

View PostSelma, on Nov 6 2008, 6:00pm, said:

All of Grant's callers are from outside of Sydney, meaning he has no impact on Alan Jones.

As PZ already noted, many callers are from within the Sydney Metropolitan region.

View PostSelma, on Nov 6 2008, 6:06pm, said:

Name them then...

I don't keep a record of every caller that rings 2SM or any other radio station, and I certainly don't do it just so I can settle petty arguments on some internet forum.

View PostSelma, on Nov 6 2008, 6:09pm, said:

He gets them to say that - trust me I know one of the callers who rings regularly and says he is from Redfern, but is actually calling from Tamworth.

Who? You seem to know them and their names, why not name them?

Or is that another stupid theory you've pulled from the book of nonsense?

View PostSelma, on Nov 6 2008, 6:09pm, said:

Contrary to what you think, I doubt Alan Jones will be worrying about 2SM anytime soon - 2UE and ABC are his only worries (maybe 2CH as well).

Obviously the tongue-in-cheek nature of my post flew over your head. I doubt Alan actually worries about anyone at the moment - he's impossible to compete with.

View PostPOWERZONE, on Nov 6 2008, 6:16pm, said:

The ratings are somewhat flawed anyway. The main reason 2SM doesn't take part is because it costs a lot of money to do so.

The official reason Goldie gave a couple of months ago was that the logbook/diary system was unreliable, but I forget whether he mentioned cost as well. But I'll totally agree - it is a rather flawed system of ratings measurement.

But anyway, what "Simpsons" name will you come up with next I wonder???

Or will you finally grow up and stop playing your stupid little games?

Cant you see there is obviously a community of like minded individuals that you are clearly not being accepted into?

Is this what you cant stand?

When these "individuals" are not responding in a positive fashion to your banter, does this not convince you yet, that you are not welcome?

Not really - most Sydney radio advertising $$$ goes to 2Dayfm and Nova.

No - I would say its accurate. Just a couple of examples - the current system has captured the huge rise of Hamish and Andy and Kyle/Jackie O in Sydney as well as the rise and fall of 2Gb and 2UE resepctively.

2SM pulled out of ratings due to the embarassment of having some shifts rate below 1000 listeners.

You think so?

Everytime I "spring" you, your ass gets burned.

I don't ask you to start accounts - so how can I be the one falling into a trap?

Get the hint 'fur ball', you are not warmly recieved around those parts, so stop continuing.

Rack off and find some mates of your own, who fit your ideology and agendas.

Your certainly most unwelcome!

I should hope so. They are commercial radio stations that play more ads than music, and contain a greater and more attractive audience.

Blind Freddy could tell you as much, and without the aid of a radio diary.

Hamish and Andy are the 'it' boys at the moment, and Kyle and Jackie O have been popular for as long as I've been listening to radio. And no-one in their right mind would listen to 2UE at the moment - full of boring, incompetent and unappealing hosts who really don't have a proven track record of success in talkback radio.
