Thread dedicated to Seven Sunrise and related issues.

This morning I was watching Sunrise, and they had a St. Valentine’s Day ticker with short messages to loved ones. Mel and Kochie were also reading out longer messages coming through on the e-mail. Then Mel read one something along the lines of:

“I have no Valentine. I hope something unpleasant happens to your digestive system today. I hate you all.”

 Great to see that Sunrise keeps a sense of humour…

C'mon MM she's been good and fits into the team very well. You shouldn't have too much to complain about as they have been showing lots of Monique flashbacks including the Hugh Hefner one.

In fact Sunrise summer has been very good and many of the flashback have been things I never saw. Some very funny and some excellent moments in 2006 and shows why Sunrise is doing so well.

Wow, it's like I've died and went to heaven. But then they realized it wasn't my time yet. So they sent me to a brewery.

I haven't been up early enough to catch Sunrise for a few days, so I'm grateful to Antony for posting these flashbacks. Some very funny moments in 2006, and with the graphics relaunch and new set coming on January 29, Sunrise are in a good position to kick butt again in 2007.

 Sounds good. :) It seems like time for a change (despite their current look being great). It probably hasn't changed in 2½ to 3 years. IIRC they relaunched after Athens at MP?

Yep they relaunched straight after the Closing Ceremony of Athens 2004, which I believe was around the 1st of September or something.

From the 13th.

CHANNEL Seven's flagship breakfast show Sunrise has upped the ante in its ratings battle with embattled Channel 9 rival Today.

Tomorrow, the show will begin unveiling a new set, new segments and new faces, ranging from Kathy Lette and Peter Berner to Sam Kekovich and Ita Buttrose.
The announcement – which did not reveal the permanent replacement for weatherman Grant Denyer – comes ahead of the start of 2007 ratings on February 11.

In 2006, Nine beat Seven by less than half a per cent to claim victory in the overall ratings. However, in the breakfast timeslot, it was a different story.

Sunrise hosts Melissa Doyle and David Koch trumped Karl Stefanovic and Jessica Rowe, who defected from Ten to replace Tracy Grimshaw, only to draw the ire of viewers, leading to talk she would be "boned" by Nine CEO Eddie McGuire.

Now on maternity leave, she's been replaced for summer by Sarah Murdoch, who has drawn more favourable reaction and is tipped to have a bright future.

However, with no official plans to give her the gig permanently – despite intense speculation – the spotlight is on Seven's new direction, which it says is all about surprises.

Kekovich is not a very good actor...But I am sure Sunrise viewers would have taken it hook, line and sinker.

 There was an article from beforehand announcing his new role on Sunrise?

modecko said that Koch told viewers their new promo had to be delayed so they could include Sam into it. Wow, he/Sunrise is full of crap. :helpsmilie:

It's good to see interstate presenters getting a go on national programs such as Sunrise. :)

Yes! They should get Jo Desmond down again to present the news, but then again she is going to be a busy person soon!
